18' Hexagon Sunset Umbrella in Baltimore

All of Skyspan’s tensile membrane shade structures are great in themselves. But some of them go so far in beauty and quality as to become a featured install. These shade structures and umbrellas aren’t necessarily higher in price, but instead could be any one of Skyspan’s structures that represent their own qualities in way that exceeds that of any other shade structure sold by competitors.

In this photo is an 18’ Hexagon Sunset Umbrella. This umbrella currently stands in Baltimore Maryland at a Splash Pad. Its beauty is apparent, but what remains unseen is the durability and quality featured in every Skyspan shade structure and umbrella. This shade structure bears the same 93 MPH wind resistance seen in other Sunset umbrellas when retracted, as well as its durability, water-proofing, skin protection, and resistance to the elements.

Sunset Range

When looking to purchase a Skyspan shade structure, consider choosing from our most popular umbrella line, The Sunset Range.

Its popularity is not without cause. Aside from the typical features seen in a Skyspan shade structure, this umbrella’s main feature is its full retractability. When opened they can withstand winds of up to 75 MPH, like most other Skyspan structures, but when retracted they will stand strong in winds of up to 93 MPH. The ease in which these structures can be retracted in is unrivaled, such that even a small child could do it. In addition to their wind resistance, this range also features an incredible strength for withstanding the harshest weather.

The retracting system for this shade structure is concealed within the umbrella’s column and features a removable handle for added attractiveness. Its design makes the Sunset Range ideal for cafés and restaurants.

UV Protection

In the United States, nearly half of all Americans will develop skin cancer at least once by the time the reach the age of 65. A leading cause of skin cancer is UV exposure. While sun-screen and extra clothing can protect you from the sun’s harmful rays, they often get hot and sticky during summer months.

While many umbrellas and shade structures provide little to no UV-protection, Skyspan umbrellas are built specifically to block UV-rays. Under Skyspan shade, you know you and your whole family are protected from the elements!

The idea of Skyspan traces its origins to Australia, where shade structures are commonly used to keep people out of the sun’s harmful rays. Other nations where skin cancer rates are high are starting to take part in protecting themselves from UV-rays with shade structures, such as those sold by Skyspan.

If you have any questions about UV-protection, or anything related to Skyspan, feel free to consult our Contact Us page.

Structure Fabrics

A well-known fact is that Skyspan’s shade structures are more durable than most but what many people don’t know is why our products are the best. While a large part of their durability stems from their superior design features that have been engineered to stand in winds of 75-90 MPH, another piece of the toughness in a Skyspan Shade structure comes from their high-quality tension membrane weather fabrics.

This fabric must be carefully measured, cut, and welded by a high frequency welder, something unique to Skyspan. This exact science applied to every shade structure and umbrella, gives you protection from the elements year round.

Our fabric also gives our structures a unique look and feel that will wow and impress for years to come.
